Discovering Qigong with Lâm at Pier 11 Studio

Two people after Qigong class, smiling peacefully. Location is Pier 11 Studio, Astoria, Oregon.

Today, Pier 11 Studio was alive with energy as artist Lâm led a small group in a dynamic Qigong class. This practice, rooted in traditional Chinese wellness, emphasizes the connection between mind, body, and spirit through movements and breathing techniques. Participants enjoyed a serene environment while learning to cultivate their inner energy, or "Chi."

Qigong offers a variety of benefits. This practice helps to reduce stress, improve focus, and enhance creativity. By incorporating mindful movements, individuals can achieve balance and clarity. Qigong works by coordinating the body, breath, and mind to gather, circulate, and direct qi (life energy) within ourselves. It aims to unblock stagnant energy, allowing it to flow freely through the 12 channels, or meridians, identified in traditional Chinese medicine.

We encourage anyone interested in experiencing Qigong to join us at Pier 11 Studio 10:00-10:45 am every other Sunday starting March 2nd, 2025, an excellent opportunity not only to improve personal well-being but also to connect with other creative individuals in a supportive environment. Pre-registration is not required.

In addition to leading the Chi Quong class, Lâm is also known for his exquisite handmade lighting shades. These unique pieces will be showcased in an upcoming exhibition this April at Clatsop Community College, commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. This exhibition will feature a collaboration of various artists, each contributing their unique perspectives and talents to honor this significant historical milestone.
